EAST CORNWALL SKITTLES LEAGUE
RULES 2005/06 AMENDED
1. Alleys to be a minimum thirty feet (9.144m) from the throw line. 2. Front pin centre to rear pin centre to be forty-two inches (1.067m). 3. Width of diamond to be fifty inches (1.270m). 4. Pins to be ten inches (254mm) by five inches (127mm) by two and a half inches (63mm) – balls to be five inches (127mm) rubber. 5. Centre of side pins to be forty inches apart (1.016m). 6. Balls off the side walls are no balls and any pins knocked down are to be replaced. 7. Pins that have been knocked down that touch side walls or rear cushioning are considered to be dead and must be removed. 8. A line of tape one inch (25mm) wide to be laid in the shape of a diamond, five inches (127mm) from the centre of pin to inside edge of tape, so when half the pin crosses the line, it is considered dead and must be removed. 9. Teams will play on a home and away basis. 10. Each team to consist of eight players – men, ladies or mixed. 11. Captains to toss a coin to decide which team bowls first. 12. First ball to be bowled by 8.00pm (20.00 hours) in league matches. 13. Players must be available to bowl when their turn is due, otherwise NIL pins will be recorded for each absent leg. The only exception being when a player is called away on an emergency after the game has commenced, when he/she will receive FIVE pins per leg. 14. In an emergency, a player, with the agreement of BOTH captains, can bowl all his/her remaining legs. 15. Players must keep both feet within and behind the throw line before delivery of the ball. 16. A match consists of eight legs. The opening team will each bowl six balls, followed by the opponents, then repeated. Two points will be awarded for the first-half winners (after four legs) and two points for the second-half winners, plus two points for the overall winning pinfall. Six points at stake in total. 17. A result must be agreed and an appropriate result sheet fully completed (with FULL names of players) and signed by both captains. This must then be sent by the home captain to the League Secretary immediately after the match with £4.00 subscription - £2.00 per team (unless subscriptions have already been paid in advance). NO CASH TO BE SENT BY POST (Cheques only, payable to ‘East Cornwall Skittles League’) 18. The fixture list must be STRICTLY adhered to, unless there are exceptional circumstances, whereby the Secretary is to be notified as soon as possible. The Secretary will then decide if said circumstances are warranted or not and inform the captains concerned of the re-arranged fixture as soon as possible. Matches cannot be re-arranged, unless, with the agreement of both captains, they are played on another date within the same fixture week (in force September 2006). 19. In the event of a team cancelling a match within 24 hours of the fixture, a fine of £10.00 must be paid to the offended team. 20. A player having bowled for a team may not play for another team, or the team faces disqualification and a fine. 21. Any disputes will come before the Committee and their decision will be final. 22. All players must be over sixteen (16) years of age. 23. New players can be registered on the match night (in force September 2005). The captain must note their full name and gender on the back of the result sheet and enclose £1.00 registration fee with match fees. 24. Two teams will be promoted and two teams relegated in each division (in force September 1999). 25. The Committee reserves the right to refuse entry to the league to any person(s) who, in their opinion may be considered detrimental to the interests of the East Cornwall Skittles League. 26. Averages to be computed on league matches only, with a player having competed in at least two-thirds of league fixtures. 27. Awards for highest and runners-up to be given for league game averages for men and ladies. 28. Awards for the highest score and highest spare to be given for league and competition matches for men and ladies. 29. All Semi-Finals and Finals in cup matches will be played on neutral allies. 30. To be eligible to play in the league next season, teams must be registered by the captain or a representative at (or before) the Annual General Meeting. 31. Any vote taken at the Annual General Meeting must have a two-thirds majority to be carried. |
